IUD – Highly effective (over 99%) birth control method with no daily pills or monthly refills.

Mirena is a small flexible intrauterine device (IUD) placed in the uterus to prevent pregancy for up to 5 years. It is completely reversible and can be removed at any time. Extended release of the progestin levonorgestrel works to inhibit the mobility and survival rate of sperm.

Liletta is a small, flexible, plastic, T-shaped IUD that, when inserted into the uterus, slowly releases 52 mg of a progestin hormone called levonorgestrel. It has been found to be more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy for up to 6 years in different types of women of childbearing age. It can be used by women who have had children and women who have never been pregnant. Liletta is a reversible form of birth control and can be removed at any time.

Kyleena is a hormone-releasing IUD that prevents pregnancy for up to 5 years. Kyleena works by giving you a continuous low dose of progestin—a hormone that acts primarily in the uterus. It is completely reversible and can be removed at any time.

NEXPLANON is a small, thin and flexible contraceptive device implanted in the arm. It’s invisible and prevents pregnancy for up to 3 years. NEXPLANON works using hormones that stop an egg from being released by your ovary and prevents sperm from reaching the egg. It also changes the lining of your uterus. It must be removed by the end of the third year.

Birth Control Pills- Hormonal contraception taken orally, prevents pregnancy 99.9% of the time if taken correctly.

The pill should be taken at the same time everyday regardless of the brand. New pill packs should be started on the same day of the week as the previous pill pack. Dr. Somi Javaid often prescribes, but is not limited to, the following birth control pills: Loestrin, Loloestrin, Yaz, Yasmin, Ortho tri-cyclen.

The CO2RE Intima is a non-surgical laser procedure that restores vaginal health and functionality. It is appropriate for women in the peri-menopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal stages of life, as well as for women looking to improve sexual function and confidence related to their vaginal appearance and health.

After childbirth, many women experience looseness of the vaginal canal and the introitus (opening of the vagina). Peri, menopausal and postmenopausal women often experience VVA (Vulvo Vaginal Atrophy), also known as GSM (Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause) – characterized by symptoms of burning, itching, dryness, and painful intercourse. And regardless of age, as women get older many experience cosmetic changes to their genitalia – such as pigmentation and sagging of the vulva skin.

CO2RE Intima is for post child bearing and peri, menopausal and postmenopausal women who desire enhancement in sexual functioning and a better sexual experience, women who seek vaginal cosmetic improvement and women who want to feel more confident about their feminine health.

Benefits from the CO2RE Intima:

      • Restores vaginal health, function, and appearance
      • Improves bladder control
      • Treats Lichen Sclerosus
      • Tightens vaginal internal walls and external labia
      • Reduces burning, itchiness, and dryness
      • Helps increase satisfaction during intercourse
      • Quick, non-surgical, in-office, no-downtime procedure

HERmd Cincinnati was the first office in the area to provide treatment using this new technology for vaginal laxity. Dr. Javaid has performed over 2,000 of these procedures as is a Key Opinion Leader for Candela – training physicians across the country on how to perform this procedure.

HERmd is proud to offer a revolutionary device that allows OBGYNs to directly visualize the uterine cavity. This means diagnoses are quicker, easier, and better-tolerated by patients.

Endosee is an all-in-one, handheld, portable, cordless system that allows providers to complete a diagnostic hysteroscopy in an average of 3 minutes – and it does not require anesthesia. A small tube-like camera with a long, thin neck is inserted through the vagina in order to take images including both still images and video. The long camera is attached to a screen, much like that of a cell phone, that allows your physician to see the affected area and gain real-time information to evaluate and treat uterine disorders.

Infertility is when a couple fails to get pregnant after one year of unprotected sex. It is a common problem for women in the United States – about 12% of women between the ages of 15 and 44 years have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying the pregnancy to term.

Infertility can be due to health issues with the woman or the man (or both), so it is important to consider all aspects. For women, some underlying issues that may cause infertility include polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)/premature menopause, or menopause. It could also be affected by blocked fallopian tubes (tubal occlusion), which could be caused by a history of certain types of sexually transmitted diseases, endometriosis, past ruptured appendicitis, or past abdominal surgery. Another issue affecting women’s infertility may be the physical characteristics of the uterus. This can be investigated in our private offices via a hysteroscopy or via other methods. (See FemVue.)

In the end, you can be rest assured that we will put your situation and health at top priority and will consider all healthy means to help you get the results you and your partner have always been dreaming about.

For couples having trouble conceiving a child, 1 in 3 have some degree of tubal blockage. The fallopian tubes need to be open in order for the sperm to reach the egg. Even with popular infertility drugs that stimulate ovulation, conception cannot occur if the tubes are blocked. Testing the fallopian tubes is crucial in determining why a couple cannot conceive. FemVue® is a quick procedure (usually around 15 minutes) that can be done in the comfort of our office, and can offer immediate results.

FemVue allows your doctor to inject a mixture of saline and air bubbles into the uterus, which then fills and flows into the fallopian tubes, which are then highly visible under ultrasound. If the fallopian tubes are open, the bubbles can be seen flowing through and spilling out of each fallopian tube. Usually, test results are discussed during or right after the procedure is completed.

Utilizing our state-of-the-art facility and equipment, along with our private, relaxing, comfortable and confidential space, we are able to use a viewing scope to examine the interior of the uterus and cervical canal non-surgically. This procedure is called a hysteroscopy and can help diagnose serious problems of the uterus, including abnormal vaginal bleeding, polyps or tumors, tissue scarring from previous procedures (like a D&C), and / or observation of abnormal anatomy. It can even be used as a treatment method when combined with a simple surgery.

As you reach your 30’s and 40’s, you may notice that your menstrual bleeding is irregular or heavier than normal. You may also experience other associated symptoms such as increased headaches, bad cramps, exhaustion, nausea, moodiness, and other physical and / or emotional tolls that might keep you from going to work or having sex. This happens sometimes as your body prepares itself for menopause. The NovaSure® endometrial ablation procedure can lighten or even stop your period quickly, safely and easily by gently removing the lining of the uterus that causes the bleeding.

NovaSure offers a solution to heavy bleeding without the use of hormones or the risks associated with a hysterectomy. According to its manufacturers, more than 2 million women have trusted NovaSure to help ease their heavy bleeding, and 90% of them report a dramatic decrease, or an altogether stop in menstrual bleeding. Pregnancy is still a risk among NovaSure patients, and those who do become pregnant once this procedure is done may have increased risk with the pregnancy.

Pelvic pain refers to the pain women endure below the belly button. It is considered chronic if the pain persists for longer than six months. For some, pelvic pain can be mild and can come and go, or manifests as severe cramping during periods. For others the pain is more severe, even affecting sleep, work, sex, and life in general. Sometimes chronic pelvic pain may begin to affect you emotionally, causing depression.

Pelvic pain can be a sign of a more serious problem such as issues with the reproductive system, scar tissue following an infection or surgery, urinary tract or bowel diseases, or as an effect of physical or sexual abuse.

The myRISK Hereditary Cancer test provides vital information to help people with a strong personal or family history of cancer understand their own risk of developing the disease. With this information, they can take steps to potentially prevent cancer, delay the onset of the disease or catch it at an earlier stage when outcomes and survival rates are better. It can help determine your cancer risk for 8 hereditary cancers:

      • Endometrial
      • Breast
      • Ovarian
      • Gastric
      • Colorectal
      • Pancreatic
      • Melonoma
      • Prostate

Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) Syndrome causes about 10% of breast and ovarian cancer HBOC substantially increases your risk for developing breast and ovarian cancer, often before the age of 50, and can be transmitted genetically.

HBOC begins with a mutation in either of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes (BRCA stands for BReast CAncer) or a handful of less penetrant genes gives a woman an increased lifetime risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers. Not all families with multiple cases of breast and ovarian cancer have mutations in these genes.

A simple genetic test and complete analysis of the results is available at HERmd Cincinnati and it can let you know your risk for hereditary cancers by identifying a gene mutation. Knowing your risk can help you be ready against hereditary cancer—so you and your practitioner can take steps to reduce your risk.
